Background

Marcello Graziano is an economic and energy geographer whose research is transdisciplinary and applied in nature. As a regional economic modeler, Graziano has worked on several fields and topics. His main research areas are currently energy transitions, social-energy modeling, sustainable water systems, care economics, sustainable regional economic modeling, and the food-regional growth nexus.

Currently, he is the Co-PI on , an international research project on energy justice and climate risk led by the University of Alberta.

Graziano鈥檚 work has been used to inform businesses (e.g., The Phantom Group) and state and federal agencies (e.g., the Great Lakes Commission, Connecticut OEC). Prior to joining Binghamton, Graziano worked as a senior researcher at Ruralis (Norway, 2023-2025); an associate professor at Southern Connecticut State University (2020-2024); an assistant professor at Central Michigan University (2016-2020); and a postdoctoral researcher at SAMS (Scotland, 2014-2016). He also holds a courtesy appointment as Associate Director of the Connecticut Center for Economic Analysis at the University of Connecticut, Storrs.
