• • Â鶹Éç students prepare for Mongolia. We are incredibly excited to report that four students will be joining Executive Director Lorena Aguilar and Senior Associate Director Shelly Ross in Ulaanbataar, Mongolia for the 17th session of the Andrew Cohen, Ariel Esposito, Matilda Fillion and Rebecca Silber will travel into the Gobi Desert to learn more about the pastoralist lifestyle of the nomadic and semi-nomadic people of the region, and learn firsthand about the impacts of desertification on these communities. They will also participate events the Kaschak Institute is co-hosting with UN Women, witness international negotiation processes and meet the women delegates and civil society representatives from around the globe who are traveling with the Kaschak Institute as part of the Ecosystem-based adaptation project we are implementing with the Center for Development and Environment at the University of Bern and the FAO.
  • The Kaschak Institute welcomes Alejandra Fernandez and Neena Paulson to the Kaschak Institute Advisory Board. Alejandra is a senior at Â鶹Éç majoring in Psychology with a minor in Latin and Caribbean Studies. Passionate about expanding access to mental health resources, her work focuses on digital interventions, including helping develop Breaking Barriers, a digital interview-coaching tool designed to support neurodivergent job seekers. Neena is a sophomore at Â鶹Éç majoring in Political Science with a minor in Human Rights. She is passionate about advancing social equity and looks forward to contributing to the Institute's mission while collaborating with fellow student leaders.

  • This summer Bailey Emhoff has been conducting research at the with support from the Harpur Summer Internship program at the Kaschak Institute. Bailey is exploring psychoanalytic perspectives on autism in girls while gaining hands-on clinical and research experience. She is also helping to facilitate the SPARK program, supporting meaningful connections between autistic and neurotypical peers.

    Reflecting on her experience, Bailey shared:
    "My time at the Sherkow Center has been truly invaluable. Over the course of this summer, I have grown tremendously as a researcher, student, clinician-in-training, and individual. I have gained extensive research experience through my work on a psychoanalytic behavioral study and a clinical case study examining female autism from a psychoanalytic perspective. In addition, observing and shadowing Dr. Sherkow's clinical sessions has deepened my understanding of psychoanalytic theory and practice in ways that cannot be learned from textbooks alone.

    None of these opportunities would have been possible without the support of the Kaschak Institute. The grant has helped cover my transportation, educational materials, and living expenses, allowing me to fully immerse myself in this internship and make the most of this extraordinary learning experience.
