On June 28, the Binghamton Police Department informed university police about three
burglaries at a residence in the City of Binghamton leased by several students. Although
details surrounding the burglaries are limited at this time, it is believed that at
least three separate burglaries have occurred at the residence. Each incident involved
forced entry into the unoccupied residence.
The Binghamton Police Department is actively investigating the incident, and as of
now, no one has been apprehended. The university police encourage anyone with information
regarding this incident to contact the Binghamton Police Department at (607) 778-1911.
The University Police are fully assisting with the investigation wherever possible
and can be reached at (607) 777-2393.
To help prevent similar crimes, ensure that all windows, doors and other entry points
are locked whenever the residence is unoccupied. If a residence is to remain unoccupied
for an extended period of time it is advisable to inform the landlord/property manager
in advance.
