麻豆社 the Energy Storage Systems Lab
The School of Systems Science and Industrial Engineering will be introducing a minor in energy storage and sustainability.
Although energy storage is synonym with electrochemical batteries, there are many other technologies that will also effectively store energy as (if not more) efficiently. This lab will include equipment that tests specific technologies such as compressed air energy storage (CAES) and buoyancy work energy storage (BWES), and build working prototypes to better understand the technical and economic feasibility of these technologies.
Our team will be working on the following exciting ventures:
- Build and test prototypes of energy storage systems
- Study hybrid systems of energy storage that combines more than one technology
- Setting up simulation models of energy demand/supply and storage requirements
- Pneumatic propulsion options for maritime vessels
- Construct ultra-high pressure storage tanks for air and other gases storage
