Continuous Submission applications will be accepted through August 10, 2026 for assignment to January 2027 Council.  After that date, the Continuous Submission Policy will be ending.  The updated Late Application Submission Policy is effective for due dates on or after May 25, 2026.  To be considered under the late policy, you must submit your application within two (2) calendar weeks of the original due date if you have met the allowable criteria.

For applications submitted to due dates on or after May 25, 2026, BESH will no longer be considered clinical trials by the NIH.  Learn whether your project is a clinical trial, basic experimental study involving humans (BESH), or an observational study involving humans.

NIH has extended the leniency period for using SciENcv to complete Common Forms (Biographical Sketch and NIH Biographical Supplement and Current and Pending (Other) Support) through May 2026.   All applicants are encouraged to begin using the Common Forms as soon as feasible, however, NIH will continue to accept the NIH Biosketch and NIH Other Support format pages through the duration of the extended leniency period.

If you are using the SciENcv Common Forms and have questions about the NIH Biographical Sketch Supplement, is some additional information and instructions for completing the supplemental form.

Additionally, NIH will require that all senior/key personnel on an application certify they have completed research security training within 12 months of the date of application submission.  This certification will be done via the Biographical Sketches completed by senior/key personnel in SciENcv.  This requirement will be effective for all applications submitted for due dates on or after May 25, 2026.
